How to Secure Your mobiusonline Account
Learn to identify common methods of account theft.
- Sharing Account Info
- The simplest form of account theft occurs when a user willingly shares login information with another player. This person may be someone you know and trust in real-life or in-game, or someone using a tactic called "social engineering" to get your information. This is the leading cause of account theft.
- DO NOT SHARE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION!
- If you did share your information with someone else and you now suspect that your account has been stolen, change your password immediately to avoid any further damage. Also, do not log on from someone else's computer. Even if you practice perfect Internet security at home, you'll waste all that effort if you log on from a a friend's machine that has been compromised.
- Phishing Emails
- The practice of "phishing" is a common strategy used by account thieves. These emails and web sties pretend to be official mobius communication to trick you into willingly handing out your login information. Here are some things that you may be dealing with a phishing attempt:
- Phishing emails will ask for you password and/or login information. mobius emails will never ask for your current password.
- Phishing emails will make urgent appeals in regards to our account being under investigation for hacking/cheating and ask that you provide personal information to avoid these penalties.
- Phishing emails and web sites may also make offers that seem too good to be true, such as early entry to beta tests or patches, special promos, etc.
- Phishing emails frequently contain grammatical and/or spelling mistakes. If you can spot obvious typos and grammatical/syntactical errors, you are likely dealing with a phishing email.
- Some phishing email do not request personal information but instead give links to fake web sites that look exactly like mobius' account management web sites. Check if your browser's phishing filter is activated.
- Some phishing emails will mask their sending address, making it appear as though the emails are being sent from mobiusgames. Check the email's header information to verify the sending address.
- Be aware of in-game mail or whispers that impersonate Game Masters or friends.
- The best way to avoid becoming a victim of a phishing attempt is to exercise caution when receiving any kind of information purporting to come from mobiusgames. If an email asks for your password, makes urgent appeals, sounds too good to be true, or links "account management" sites outside of mobiusgames' sites, you are dealing with a phishing attempt. If you believe you have recently fallen victim to a phishing attempt, change your password immediately.

- Malicious Programs
- Some hackers inject computer viruses and other malware (including keyloggers) into BOTS, hack programs and other seemingly innocent-looking software. At the very least, this can break your game installation; at the worst, it can lead to irreparable damage to your computer, financial consequences due to credit card theft, or even real-life identity theft.
- Be extremely careful when downloading and installing BOTS and programs. If you believe you have recently fallen victim to a malicious program or virus, immediately have your anti-virus software run a full system scan, then change your password.
- THE USE OF HACK PROGRAMS IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE AND WILL INCURE PERMANENT ACCOUNT SUSPENSION!
- Malicious Websites
- Malicious web sites will target your browser's weak spots by attempting to install harmful software on your computer, with end results similar to malicious programs. These sites may be obvious, or they may be designed to look exactly like a mobius web site. One easy way to tell is by looking closely at the site's URL. If it's not a mobius URL but the site claims to be official, you are probably dealing with a malicious website.
- The most important thing to avoid becoming a victim of a malicious web site is to make sure your browser and anti-virus software are up-to-date. Carefully examine any and all links you are presented with, even from close friends. If you believe you have recently fallen victim to a malicious website, immediately have your anti-virus software run a full system scan, the change your password.
- ALWAYS KEEP YOUR BROWSER AND ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE UP-TO-DATE!

- Create a Unique Email Address

- Once registered keep this email isolated as you can and do not associate it with any other service besides Mobiusgames and Mobiusonline. In addition to increasing the security of your account, this will also help reduce the reception of phishing emails.
- Do not use the same password for your registered email address and Mobiusonline account.
- Maintain Secure Filters and Rules
- Whether you're using an email address that is unique to Mobiusgames/Mobiusonline or one shared with other online services, it's important to periodically check your address filters and rules.
- The first thing to check for is the unauthorized set up of mail forwarding. Some malicious parties will attempt to compromise a registered email address and, if successful, enable this feature. Once set up and enabled, the mail forwarding feature will create a duplicate of every email sent to your email address and automatically forward it to another email address. This means, for example, if Mobiusgames sent you an email regarding a password reset or your Secret Question/Answer, it would be automatically forwarded to another location. To disable unauthorized email forwarding, go to your "Options" or "Settings" and to the "Email Forwarding" or "POP/IMAP" and disable the feature and save the new settings.
- The second thing to check is the "whitelist" (or "safe list") for your email address. The "whitelist" is a list of contacts, managed by the user, from which email is authorized. Emails sent by any contact o this list will not be filtered to Spam, Junk or Trash folders. Please ensure that @mobius.ph and @dmii.net are added to your email whitelist.
